PRO PLAN PUPPY LARGE

Historically, large breeds have been developed for either strength or speed. This has lead to two fundamentally different dog body types: Robust (e.g. Retriever, Basset Hound, Bloodhound, Rottweiler, Bullmastiff, St. Bernard) and Athletic (e.g. Pointer, German Shepherd, Boxer, Giant Snauzer, Great Dane, Irish Wolfhound). Research has shown that these two body types have very different characteristics and nutritional needs.

Large breed robust dogs have more body fat and need their calorie intake monitored to avoid weight gain. In contrast, large breed athletic dogs expend more energy in daily activities and need a higher energy diet. They use up more energy even when resting than large breed robust dogs.

Purina nutritionists and veterinarians have developed Large Breed Puppy formulas to meet the specific energy and nutritional requirements of each body type.
